How To Get Traction As A New Business Owner

Today I’d like to you all about a really common mistake that I often see in new business owners.

I’ve been hosting a ton of free networking events and online webinars and other online events over the last month or so, where I’ve heard the same question over and over again – the same problem, really.

‘I’m not getting the results that I want.”

It could be because they’re not getting traction, they need more clients, or even more money.

And of course – for whatever reason, they can’t seem to get there.

What’s my first question in response?

What are you doing right now?

The answer I get is pretty consistent: I’m building my website. I’m doing market research. I’m creating the perfect client avatar. I’m doing a ton of behind-the-scenes work.

And that’s the problem.

If you want more results, traction, clients, and money as a new business owner, you shouldn’t be spending all that time on behind-the-scenes stuff. You have to be upfront and visible – get out there and talk about what you have to offer.

Figure out what your messaging is and put it out there.

What do you want people to know about you and your product/service?

Firstly, if you’re a new business owner, you don’t need a website right away to get more clients. You don’t need to create the perfect offering structure or business model. You don’t need to crunch imaginary numbers.

What you do need to do is get out there and tell people about your product/service and offer.

That’s the only way you’re going to get traction in your business – it’s really that simply.

So, if you’re doing all of the back-end things and waiting for everything to be perfect before going out and talking to people, stop all of it right now.

Start pushing out some of your messaging to the public so that you can test it and see how well it lands.

Is there anything else I could clarify for you? Any follow-up questions for honing in on this common mistake?

Let’s get your messaging clear, concise, and out to your potential clients. And, if it’s your first time putting out messaging, you’ll usually require some refinement along the way – that’s how it is for everyone. Rarely is it perfect out of the gate.

Keep that in mind and get out there. Be visible.

Avoid the #1 mistake so many new business owners are making and get from behind the curtain.

Talk about your business, your message, and your offers.

That’s all for today – if you’re at this place with your business and you need help with your messaging, getting out there, or anything else, feel free to reach out to me.
